Some tips for being more mindful in life and listening to your own needs.

As busy women (or men), we often feel like we are always running, busy taking care of others and their needs. We may find it difficult to find time for ourselves and our own well-being. However, it can be important to occasionally stop and take time for ourselves. In this blog, you will find some tips for taking more time for yourself and taking better care of yourself.

1.           Make time in your schedule
If you don’t schedule yourself in your own schedule, chances are you’ll never get around to it. So consciously make time in your schedule for yourself. For example, this could be one evening a week when you don’t plan anything, go out into nature for a (long) walk or a morning when you take a yoga or meditation class. Make it a priority to protect this time and really enjoy it.

2.           Find a calm, relaxing and inspiring environment
It can be difficult to unwind when you are surrounded by chaos. Therefore, create a quiet environment for yourself where you can retreat. This could be a corner of your home where you have a chair for reading, or a quiet walk in nature. Make sure these places work for you and really help you relax. Clear out some stuff and put things down or hang what you find beautiful and soothing when it is in your house. Choose a natural environment that you feel safe and is really quiet.

3.           Do activities you enjoy
It is important to make time for activities you enjoy. This can be anything, such as painting, reading a book, walking or cooking. Whatever it is, make time for it and enjoy it. Taking time for activities that you enjoy not only makes you feel better, but also recharges your battery.

4.           Listen to your body
We often tend to ignore our bodies when we are busy. We eat unhealthy food, drink too little water and carry on while we are tired. It is important to listen to your body and know what it needs. Get healthy food, drink enough water and take breaks when you feel your body needs it.

5.           Let go of what you cannot control
When we worry about things we cannot control, it causes stress and anxiety. Therefore, try to let go of what you cannot control and focus on what you can influence. This helps you find more peace and balance.

Taking time for yourself and taking care of yourself can have a big impact on your life. By following these tips, you can find more peace and take better care of yourself. Remember, it is not selfish to take time for yourself. Instead, it is important to take good care of yourself so you can take better care of others as well.

Hi, I’m Nathalie Bonte

In my mid 30s I decided to take a path to find more ease, calm and rest. I started to walk in nature more often, embraced my creativity and started painting and drawing again. My favorite moments are when I can let my brush move to the sounds and rhythm of the music, which is always on in the background, while intuitively creating with paint.

Creativity, mindful living and nature have since become the foundation of my business in which I use my art, (creative) courses and 1:1 guidance to increase self-care and well-being. Having worked as a family therapist, behavioral scientist and school psychologist for more than 20 years, I know how difficult and important it can be not only to help others, but also to take good care of yourself and follow your own desires.

As an artist, guide and educator I am here to help you increase your creativity, well-being and self-care.
